Mike Hertz is a Director at Vista Peak advising clients on business and intangible asset valuation, complex financial instruments (including equity and debt), and transaction advisory matters for financial reporting and tax purposes. His experience spans technology, retail, e-commerce, restaurants, and pharma/life sciences, among other industries. With over 12 years of valuation experience, Mike has been involved with over 1,000 valuations for purchase accounting (ASC 805), goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing (ASC 350 and ASC 360), fairness opinions and transaction advisory engagements, buy-side M&A due diligence, gift and estate tax and planning, share-based compensation (IRC 409A and ASC 718), and litigation support. He has extensive experience valuing intangible assets as well as equity and debt securities for companies ranging from VC-backed private businesses to Fortune 500 organizations.
Prior to joining Vista Peak, Mike held senior valuation roles at Ampleo, BPM, Vantage Point Advisors, Scalar, and KPMG.
Mike holds the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) credential from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) and earned a BS in Finance from Brigham Young University.
Outside of work Mike enjoys cycling, running, hiking, rock climbing, and pickleball. He also loves traveling and exploring new places and cultures with his wife. In addition, Mike supports initiatives that provide business assistance to Ukraine veterans.
